Closer to town, Flagler Park holds the Speckled Perch Festival parade every year, the oldest celebration in Okeechobee. If the dog needs a real stretch, Taylor Creek Stormwater Treatment Area/Nature Trail/Wildlife Preservation Area is a working water treatment site that doubles as a trail. Rated 4.6 from 119 reviews, it is not a garden. It is a wildlife area. Keep the dog on a lead. There are gators.

And yes, Tractor Supply Co. on US-441 is listed under parks and nature. It is not a park. It is a farm supply store. But it is where you buy the fifty-foot tie-out when the leash snaps. Rated 4.3 from 370 reviews, it is the most useful stop on this list.
